Balham Man And Van Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of Balham Man And Van services, including removals, delivery support, loading and unloading assistance, furniture movement, and other transport-related services supplied by the company. By making a booking, confirming a quotation, or instructing us to begin work, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms. These conditions are designed to set out the responsibilities of both parties in a clear and practical way, so that every Balham man and van service is carried out with transparency and fairness.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the service provider, while “you” and “the customer” refer to the person, business, or organisation requesting the service. The terms apply whether the booking is made by phone, email, online enquiry, message, or any other accepted method. They also apply to any variation agreed before or during the job, provided that such variation has been confirmed by us.
These terms should be read carefully before booking. If you do not understand any part of them, you should ask for clarification before the job begins. By proceeding, you acknowledge that you have authority to accept these terms on behalf of yourself or the relevant party and that the information provided to us is accurate and complete.
1. Booking Process
A booking is considered provisional until we have reviewed the details and confirmed availability. When requesting a man and van in Balham or any similar service, you must provide accurate information about the collection and delivery addresses, access conditions, parking restrictions, stairs, lift availability, the nature and number of items, timing requirements, and any special handling needs. Any estimate or quotation is based on the details supplied at the time of booking.
We may ask follow-up questions to assess vehicle size, crew requirements, timing, and any equipment needed for the job. Once we accept the booking, we may issue a confirmation stating the agreed date, service scope, and estimated or fixed price. If the information you provided changes before the move, you must notify us promptly, as changes may affect availability, pricing, and completion time.
2. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that the property is ready for the service at the agreed time. This includes arranging access, obtaining any required permissions, reserving parking where necessary, and ensuring that items are packed securely unless packing has been specifically included in the booking. Items should be clearly separated between those to be moved and those to remain at the property.
Where a Balham man and van company is asked to collect items from a location with restricted access, limited parking, or difficult stair access, you must tell us in advance. If we cannot safely or legally complete the service because of undisclosed conditions, we may amend the price, delay the job, refuse the task, or treat the booking as cancelled by the customer.
It is also your responsibility to be present, or to appoint a responsible representative, during loading and unloading where your presence is required. We are not responsible for confirming item inventories unless such a service is expressly agreed.
3. Payments
Payment terms will be set out in the quotation, invoice, or booking confirmation. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the service. In some cases, we may request a deposit or advance payment to secure the booking, particularly for larger jobs, peak-time services, or work requiring specific resource allocation. Any deposit may be non-refundable except where cancellation rights under these terms provide otherwise.
All prices are based on the information supplied and may be adjusted if the actual service differs materially from the original description. Additional charges may apply for waiting time, congestion, extra labour, use of additional vehicles, staircase or carry-distance complications, parking fines caused by customer-supplied instructions or inaccurate access information, and any extra work requested during the job. A Balham man and van service may also be subject to minimum booking charges or out-of-hours surcharges where stated in the quote.
Unless stated otherwise, prices exclude any third-party costs such as tolls, congestion charges, parking fees, or disposal fees. Where an invoice is issued, it must be paid by the due date shown. We may suspend services, refuse future bookings, or take reasonable recovery action if payment is not made on time.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving notice as soon as possible. Cancellation charges may apply depending on how much notice is given and whether work has already been allocated, planned, or started. If you cancel at short notice, we may retain any deposit or charge a percentage of the quoted amount to cover lost time and costs. Where a vehicle or crew has already been dispatched, full or partial charges may apply.
If you need to move the booking to another date, we will do our best to accommodate the request, but any rescheduled date remains subject to availability. Changes to the job scope, timing, or address details may be treated as a new quotation. A Balham man and van appointment may also be rescheduled by us due to vehicle failure, staff illness, severe weather, road closures, or other events outside our reasonable control, and in such cases we will notify you as soon as practicable.
If we must cancel the service for reasons within our control, we will normally offer an alternative date or a refund of any amount paid for the cancelled portion of the booking. We will not be liable for consequential loss arising from a cancellation or delay, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Liability and Insurance
We will exercise reasonable care and skill in delivering our services. However, the customer accepts that removals and transport work can involve risk, particularly where items are fragile, poorly packed, heavy, oversized, or already damaged. Unless otherwise agreed, we are not responsible for the internal condition of items that are inadequately packed by the customer, nor for hidden defects, wear and tear, or pre-existing damage.
Where we are found liable for loss or damage, our responsibility is limited to the reasonable repair cost or replacement value of the affected item, subject to any agreed insurance cover, proof of value, and any exclusions set out in these terms. We are not liable for loss of earnings, missed appointments, business interruption, indirect losses, or emotional distress, except to the extent such exclusion is not permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
It is your duty to notify us of items of exceptional value, fragility, or sentimental importance before the service begins. We may decline to move certain items unless special arrangements are made. A man and van Balham booking should not include prohibited, hazardous, or unlawful goods unless expressly agreed and lawfully permitted.
6. Waste Regulations and Disposal
If the service includes removal of unwanted items, rubbish, or general waste, both parties must comply with applicable UK waste regulations. We will only transport, dispose of, or deliver waste where it is lawful to do so and where the type of waste has been disclosed honestly in advance. Waste must be accurately described, and you must not misrepresent hazardous, electrical, or restricted materials as ordinary household items. A Balham man and van company may refuse to carry items that are illegal to transport, unsafe, contaminated, or likely to breach licensing requirements.
The customer remains responsible for declaring whether items are for reuse, recycling, donation, disposal, or transfer. If waste removal is included, we may issue documentation, retain records, or use licensed waste transfer partners where required. You agree that no controlled waste, clinical waste, asbestos, solvents, gas canisters, explosives, chemicals, or other regulated materials will be presented unless we have expressly agreed in writing and have the lawful authority and equipment to handle them.
Where a disposal fee applies, it may be based on weight, volume, loading time, and the type of waste. If undisclosed waste is found at collection, we may refuse the waste, revise the price, or cancel the service. You remain responsible for any fines, penalties, or costs arising from incorrect declarations or unlawful disposal instructions, except where caused by our own breach.
7. Service Limitations and Delays
We will aim to arrive within the agreed time window, but arrival times are estimates unless expressly guaranteed in writing. Traffic, weather, parking restrictions, roadworks, customer delays, building access issues, and other operational factors can affect timing. We are not liable for delay caused by circumstances outside our control, provided we act reasonably to minimise disruption.
If our team is required to wait because the premises are not ready, access is unavailable, or the customer is absent, waiting time charges may apply. If the job cannot proceed because of insufficient parking, unsafe conditions, or a failure to provide access, we may charge for wasted attendance. This applies to any Balham man and van service where the booked slot is lost due to customer-side issues.
We may refuse to move items that are too heavy, dangerous, or unsuitable for safe handling without the appropriate equipment or support. We may also stop work if conditions become unsafe. In such cases, we will discuss options with you, including delay, additional labour, or termination of the job.
8. Customer Property, Packing, and Preparation
You are responsible for ensuring that fragile items are packed appropriately unless packing services have been agreed. Boxes should be sealed properly, contents protected, and valuable items separately identified. We are not responsible for damage caused by poor packing, overfilled boxes, loose contents, or inadequate cushioning. If we assist with wrapping or loading only, this does not transfer responsibility for the original condition or packing quality of the items.
Where disassembly or reassembly is included, we will take reasonable care, but we cannot guarantee that every item can be dismantled or reassembled without risk of wear, missing fixings, or manufacturer limitations. The customer should keep screws, bolts, fittings, and instructions available unless we have agreed to manage them. We accept no liability for items that cannot be reassembled because of poor prior construction, unavailable parts, or product defects.
All items should be empty where practical. Fridges, freezers, washing machines, and similar appliances must be drained, disconnected, and ready for transport unless specifically arranged otherwise. Fuel, gas, pressurised containers, and hazardous materials must not be placed in the van unless lawful and agreed in advance.
9. Complaints and Claims
If you believe a problem has occurred, you should notify us as soon as reasonably possible and provide details of the issue, including the nature of the damage, the affected item, and any supporting evidence. Claims should be made promptly so that we can investigate while the facts remain fresh. Failure to report an issue promptly may affect our ability to assess it fairly.
We may ask for photographs, receipts, repair estimates, or other evidence before deciding whether a claim is valid. Any claim will be assessed in accordance with these terms, relevant law, and the actual circumstances of the job. Our aim is to resolve genuine issues fairly and efficiently, but our acceptance of any claim is not automatic and does not extend beyond the limits stated here.
Where a claim relates to an item of high value, the customer must be able to show proof of ownership and value. Balham man and van claims that are fraudulent, exaggerated, or unsupported may be refused, and we reserve the right to recover our costs if false allegations are made knowingly.
10. Governing Law and General Provisions
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising from or connected with them, shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law requires otherwise. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect legal, operational, or commercial changes. The version applicable to your booking will be the version in force at the time your booking is accepted, unless a change is required by law. A Balham man and van service booking creates a contractual relationship only for the services agreed and does not establish any employment, agency, or partnership relationship unless expressly stated.
By instructing us to proceed, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms. These conditions form the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the services booked, subject to any written variations agreed by both sides.
